I always say “the breath is the most important part”. The only person that will give up on you, is YOU. Do not give up on yourself. “DO NOT STOP NOW!”
— Charlene Shanti

Hi,

I’m Charlene Shanti, the founder of Modality Life Practice.

My wellness journey began early. At 17, I discovered the gym and fell in love with strength training. At 23, I found yoga, where I learned the power of balance, breath, and presence. At 25, I discovered Pilates, which completely transformed the way I move and care for my body.

Over the years, I’ve blended all of these practices into what I call the Modality Method—a unique system of Pilates, stretch therapy, and mindful movement. It has been tried and tested for more than a year with clients, and the results speak for themselves. Within just three months of consistent practice, many of our clients see a whole new body: leaner, stronger, more flexible, and more confident. The transformations aren’t just physical—our clients also experience greater mental clarity, peace, and resilience.

Now in my 40s, I can relate deeply to the challenges of staying consistent, balancing responsibilities, and caring for both body and mind. I want to be an example that it can be done—with consistency, support, and the right method. At Modality, we use tools like InBody scans, guided journaling, and personal text invitations from me to keep our clients accountable and supported every step of the way.

My background is as unique as Modality itself. I grew up in Belize, working from a young age in hospitality, service, and food & beverage. That experience taught me the importance of warmth, detail, and care—all of which I bring into Modality through touches like tea service, aromatherapy, blankets, and spa-style comfort. Alongside this, I’ve worked across 39 different jobs in industries from legal to healthcare, and today I am pursuing my doctorate in psychology. This means that when you come to Modality, you’re not just coming to a fitness class—you’re entering a space that combines service, mental health support, wellness coaching, and transformative movement and many years of experiences.

I also host wellness retreats to Belize, where guests can experience both renewal and cultural connection in a truly unique setting.

One of the greatest lessons I’ve learned in this journey is the importance of protecting the space. Modality is not for everyone. After a trial period, membership is by invitation only—based on respect, conduct, and attitude including any behavior meant to harm or entrap our space. This ensures that our community remains supportive, uplifting, and aligned with the values of growth and healing.

Modality is more than a studio—it’s a sanctuary. It’s where physical transformation, mental health support, and personal accountability come together in an environment built on trust, care, and consistency.
